Jeep® Brand plug-in hybrid technology pairs a traditional gas engine with the incredible electric motor performance. There’s no need for range anxiety when traveling to distant destinations thanks to the partnership between 4xe technology and the support of your gas-powered engine. Jeep Brand electrification also offers near silent, pure EV-driven performance when in Electric mode. Plus, you can adjust the electric output to suit different driving conditions, recharge and do it all over again.
ELECTRIC MODE
Electric Mode allows for nearly zero tailpipe emissions up to highway speeds. The Wrangler 4xe can run on this mode for a distance of up to 21 total miles on a full charge.
HYBRID MODE
The default Hybrid Mode combines torque from both the PHEV powertrain with 2.0L DOHC DI Turbo I4 engine and the electric motor. This combination provides maximum horsepower, instant torque and thrilling acceleration. In this mode, electric power is consumed first.
ESAVE MODE
eSave Mode prioritizes the 2.0L engine, saving battery charge for later use. When power demand is low, the engine shuts off. It can also be reconfigured to increase the battery charge as well.
REGENERATIVE BRAKING
This feature allows the battery to be charged when decelerating and braking. The Max Regeneration feature remaps the accelerator pedal to command more aggressive regeneration at low pedal positions. It allows you to slow the vehicle down without the brake pedal, but a complete stop always requires the brake pedal. It also stays selected until you turn it off.
RECHARGE
The battery can be fully charged in approximately 2 hours using an available Level 2 charger (240V), or 12 hours using the included Level 1 charger (120V). With the ability to charge at home and work, you can enjoy the benefits of fully electric daily commutes.

Can I charge my 4xe vehicle through a regular outlet in my home?
The Wrangler 4xe includes a Level I (120V) charging cable, which can charge the battery in 12 hours using a regular home outlet.
Do I need to charge my 4xe vehicle every night?
No! You only need to charge your 4xe vehicle when you want to, and you’ll still get hybrid fuel economy. With Wrangler 4xe having an EPAestimated total driving range of 370 miles and Grand Cherokee 4xe having an EPA estimated total driving range of 470 miles, you can still take on all kinds of adventures without the need to charge every night. Now, the major benefit of regular charging is you also get an all-electric range that’s typically enough for daily driving.
Can I partially charge my battery if needed?
Yes, it’s fine to partially charge the battery. 4xe vehicles are equipped with specialized software that manages battery usage over its life cycle to optimize battery performance and longevity. You can also schedule charging during a certain time of day, like at night when electric utility charges are generally less expensive. This allows you to get a full charge when the vehicle is not in use.
Will my 4xe vehicle keep working if I run out of charge?
Absolutely! 4xe vehicles are plug-in hybrid electric SUVs that combine a powerful electric motor with a gas engine, which means that even when they aren’t charged, you can still drive using the gas engine.
