Land- scape designer Michael Clark will discuss rock work and other aspects of hardscaping to OBITUARIES JOSE GILBERT ANAYA, 65, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, N.M., died Friday at the New Mexico Heart Hospital in Albuquerque following a brief illness. He was born May 11, 1937, to the late Juan Anaya and Lucinda Sena Anaya. served in the U.S. Navy in the Vietnam era and retired as a photojournalist. He was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation, and third and fourth Good Conduct Award.

He liked photography, cooking and gardening. He was a lifelong Catholic and member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gloria Anaya on Feb. 24, 1993; brothers, Margarito Anaya and Macario Anaya; and sister, Katie Tenorio. He is survived by his son, Charles Anaya of Phoenix; daughters, Noel Quintana and husband Richard of Ribera, Cindy Anaya and partner Kellie Huddleston of Denver; special companion, his beautiful Lu, Maria Guadalupe Espinoza of Las Vegas, N.M.; grandchildren, Carlos Anaya and fiancee Velma of Albuquerque, Airman Joseph Anaya of the U.S.

Air Force in Italy, and Rick Quintana of Ribera; special granddaughter, Leah Quintana of Ribera; grandson, Garrison Anaya Huddleston of Denver; sister, Theresa Lovato and husband John of Pueblo, brother, Seferina Anaya of Pueblo, and many other relatives and friends. GRIEGO 76, of Romeroville died Wednesday at home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born Jan. 29, 1927, in Las Vegas, N.M. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and reached the rank of tech sergeant.

He was a light truck driver with the Service Company, 305th Infantry, in Japan. He received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War Li Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. He worked many years as a heavy equipment operator for T. Brown Construction Co. and Sierra Transit Co.

He was a lifelong member of the Our Lady of Sorrows Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, San Juan Argonne Post 1547. He was a very loving and caring father, brother and uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose M. and Augeda Garcia Griego; brother, Joe C. Griego; sisters, Sadie Parson and Guadalupe Griego Jiron; and brother-inlaw, Tony Parson.

He is survived by his companion, Mary S. PAYNTER, 65, of Santa Fe died Saturday at home following an extended illness. Judy was actively involved in many civic and charitable organizations, serving on the boards of Villa Theresa Catholic Clinic, Museum of New Mexico Women's Board, the Santa Fe Opera and the Santa Fe Opera Guild. A longtime friend.of Sister Miriam Charles and Sister Pat, she was elected to serve on the Villa Theresa board, and because she was a member of the Jewish faith, the sisters wanted to insure that this organization was "ecumenical." She also became president of Villa Theresa, state president of the Opera Guild and was active in the Service to Hospice program and Southwest Cares. Following graduation from the University of New Mexico with a bachelor of science degree in business administration, she taught in the Albuquerque Public Schools and was business of Ron's Pharmacy in Santa Fe. At UNM, she was a member of Pi Beta Phi national women's sorority.

JOSE N. "SKIPPER" VALDEZ, 86, of Dixon died Monday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Agapito Valdez and Eloisa Mascarenas Valdez; the mother of his sons, Floraida Atencio; sister, Edwina Gomez and two brothers, Tony and Enoch Valdez.
